Callistemon
Callistemon is known as “tubes cleaner”. It
comes from the family of Myrtaceas and has its origin in the Australian regions
of New Wales South and Victoria.
It is
an evergreen bush which can reach 4 meters high.
It has long green-grey colour leaves and can
grow until 3 meters high. During spring and summer it blooms bright red
flowers in spiked form with a nice lemon fragrance.

DAYLIGHT
|
Generous sun if it is outdoors, with direct sun if
it is indoors.

TEMPERATURE
|
Callistemon resists soft frost, but it is better if they stay in place
5-10 º C degrees warm with lot of light and well ventilated.
In cold places it should be planted next to the walls oriented south/west.

IRRIGATION
|
Very often during the summer and not much during the
winter. Anyway, it resists drought very well.
|
GROUND
|
Normal ground, permeable and lime free. It is advisable the use of
acid substrate.

FLOWERING
|
This plant blooms in spring and during the whole
summer.
|
FERTILIZED
|
Fertilize once a year with humus and compost at the beginning of
autumn.
|
PRUNING
|
It is good to cut the long branches after the bloom
if you want to give some shape to the plant and to obtain the following
season a better flowering.
