Jasminum Polyanthum
JASMINE POLYANTHUM 101:
Jasmine Polyanthum
is also known as Winter Jasmine. It is an evergreen climbing plant from
Asia which has plentiful little white flowers, giving gardens and balconies a
nice sweet fragance during early spring and summer. Jasmine can be
grown either in the ground as in a pot under the full sun or with some shade and it is very common in Mediterranean areas. Used ornamentally, this jasmine creates a magic
atmosphere during the day and also during the night. When supported, the plant can grow up to 6 metres in height. |
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR PLANT:
DAYLIGHT
|
In small formats it is a nice plant for the indoors or
it can be used as a climbing plant in warm weathers for the outdoors. Ideal for
half shade but it endures a good amount of sun.
|
TEMPERATURE
|
Jazmin Polyanthus tolerates strong heat and endures low temperatures
until -5ºC degrees. The best temperature for it is between 10ºC – 20ºC
degrees.
|
WATERIN
|
This plant needs regular watering avoiding frequent
drying of soil. Be careful with the excess of water because it can rot the
roots. Just maintain humid soil.
|
GROUND
|
Both pot and ground are good for the plant. Normal soil with organic
fertilizer if wanted. Well drained.
|
FLOWERING
|
Amazing floral explosion at the beginning of the
spring (from last week February and during March). Very nice fragrance.
|
FERTILIZED
|
Organic fertilizer is good for the plant healthy. It can be fertilized
every 15 days from January until middle of June. Clear the weeds that grow
because of the fertilizer.
|
PRUNING
|
No needed but it is good to clear dried leaves and
withered flowers.
