LIMEQUAT
The limequat is a small citrus cross between
the lime and the kumquat, whose fruit is oval and yellow or greenish. It
belongs to the hybrid called Citrofortunella and comes from Asia.
It has a gastronomic use for sauces and
cocktails, etc. It also has a high content of vitamin C and very few
calories, ideal for low-calorie diets. This fruit is collected December and
January, being extended to February according to the climate.

LIGHT

It is affected by excessive heat, so it is advisable
to put it in shady places in the Mediterranean climate. In colder areas, you
have to protect it from frost and it accepts more sun

TEMPERATURE
|
It holds temperatures between 10 and 30 degrees, so you have to
protect the plant from winter frosts and excessively high temperatures in
summer.

IRRIGATION
|
Well watered, especially during the summer. During
the rainiest months, these will have to be reduced.

SOIL
|
It needs good drainage and continuous fertilization during spring and
summer. It is better to use a special ecological fertilizer for citrus.

FLOWERING
|
It begins to bloom in late Winter and continues
throughout the Spring.

FERTILIZER
|
To avoid the yellowing of the leaves, a dose of ferric chelate can be
added to the substrate.

PRUNING
|
It is usually pruned to shape it and to keep a round
cup, but it is not necessary.
